Description

Video Projection | 9:10 | Colour

This video projection explores architectonic facades as canvasses for video composition. It uses the building elements, windows, beams, walls, and stairs, as characters of the video itself. The video is composed exlusively for every facade and its particular features. The aim of such composition is to briefly create on the seemingly lifeless facade an aesthetic experience that makes the audience reflect on the noise generated by the communication technology. 80% of the sound was generated using the PBX of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and its different phone-line extensions. The rest of the sound was composed over a white noise background by a non-harmonic process of cutting (ctrl+c) and pasting (ctrl+V).

This video was displayed twice during the design conference El Mes del Diseño. Diseño con Sentido, first on 26th March 2004 at the Museo de Arte Moderno La Tertulia in Santiago de Cali, Colombia and the second one on 31st March 2004 on the facade of the main library at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, sede Palmira.
